John Odaatey Lamptey, widely known as Nii Agyei, the man captured in a viral video brutally assaulting his naked wife in their compound at Ofankor, in the Greater Accra Region with the involvement of a tenant, was arrested on Monday, November 17, 2025, at about 9:00 pm.
According to police reports, Lamptey is yet to be interrogated to establish what led to the shocking and humiliating attack on his wife.
During his arrest and while en route to the police station, officers received intelligence that two of Lamptey’s siblings, Louis Odaatey Lamptey and Grace Kushi Lamptey, had gone to threaten the individual suspected of recording the viral video. Police immediately returned to the residence, took the woman believed to have filmed the incident into protective custody, and subsequently arrested the two siblings.
All three suspects are currently in police custody awaiting interrogation.
Upon the police’s initial arrival, the wife was not found in the house, and her whereabouts remain unknown.
In an interview on UTV Ghana on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo confirmed the ongoing investigations. She added that the police will collaborate with all relevant institutions to ensure the matter is thoroughly and properly resolved.
