The Ghana Police Service has rescued 60 victims of human trafficking in a series of operations carried out between 5th and 19th September 2025.

Of these, 41 are foreign nationals rescued within Ghana, and 19 are Ghanaians who were being exploited abroad.

The disclosure was made by Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), during a media briefing.

All rescued victims have been handed over to relevant agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare, and civil society organisations for support, rehabilitation, and reintegration.

COP Donkor urged the public to exercise caution, especially when offered overseas job opportunities with unusual travel requirements. She said that no legitimate recruitment agency will require people to travel by road through several countries as part of an employment process.

Under Ghana’s Human Trafficking Act, 2005 (Act 694), both labour trafficking and sex trafficking are criminal offences.
