An independent parliamentary candidate for Evalue Gwira in the 2024 general elections, Prophet Elisha Joshua, has revealed that the replacement statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is ready for reinstallation.

According to him, the new statue will soon be mounted at its original location, the Effiankwanta Regional Hospital Roundabout in Sekondi, where the previous monument once stood.

The initial statue, which was erected to honour President Akufo-Addo’s contributions to the development of the Western Region, was mysteriously dismantled by unidentified individuals shortly after the 2024 elections.

Prophet Joshua, who earlier vowed to restore the monument, condemned its removal, describing the act as “a display of political intolerance that should not be encouraged.”

Speaking on Takoradi-based Connect FM, he explained that preparations for the reinstallation were far advanced.

“The main reason the statue was removed was because they claimed the road was not completed. Now, the road is done, and there should be no objection to reinstalling it,” he said.

He added that the roundabout and base of the statue remain intact and that formal approval would soon be sought from the relevant regional authorities.

“The new statue has been moulded, and we will consult the regional leaders for their consent before reinstalling it,” Prophet Joshua assured.

Although no specific date has been set, he confirmed that the restored statue of former President Akufo-Addo will soon return to its original site.
