The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has accused Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, of being part of a group allegedly working to undermine the unity of the party.
Speaking on Ezra FM, Mr. Kodua claimed that intelligence available to the party suggests that some individuals within the NPP, including founding members and senior figures, have been paid to deliberately create division and internal conflict.
“Our intelligence officers have informed us that there are people within the party, some of them founding leaders, who are working against the NPP because they have been paid to do so. Their aim is to create confusion, division and misunderstanding within the party,” he stated.
According to the General Secretary, these alleged actions are calculated to disrupt efforts to reunite the party after the January 31 presidential primary and weaken its chances ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“They know that after the January 31 presidential hopeful election, the party will unite again and work together to win the 2028 elections. That is why they are trying to destroy the peace before we get there,” he said.
Mr. Kodua expressed disappointment in Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, whom he named as one of the individuals allegedly involved.
“I saw Prof. Frimpong-Boateng as one of those who have been paid to do this. It pains me that he has changed and would want to do this to his own party,” he remarked.
He criticised comments attributed to Frimpong Boatengparticularly claims suggesting that the NPP has become “fake,” describing such statements as damaging and unnecessary.
“He is saying a lot of things he is not supposed to say. How can he come out to say the party is now fake? This is not good for the NPP,” Mr. Kodua argued.
He also questioned the timing of Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s remarks. “People are asking why he didn’t speak up in 2023 if he believed the party was fake. Why wait until 2026 to say all these things? What exactly is he looking for?” he asked.
