Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame has gifted Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani a pair of Inyambo cows, symbolizing friendship, mutual respect, and the strong bond between their nations. This traditional Rwandan gesture was made during Sheikh Tamim’s official visit to Rwanda, where he held talks with Kagame on strengthening ties between Doha and Kigali.

The Amir’s visit is part of efforts to deepen diplomatic and economic engagement between Rwanda and Qatar. The two leaders also toured Kagame’s farm, showcasing Rwanda’s agricultural potential. This visit marks Sheikh Tamim’s second trip to Rwanda, following his 2022 attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali.

The gift-giving ceremony highlights the growing cooperation between Rwanda and Qatar, with existing collaborations in aviation, security, investment, and hospitality. Qatar Airways is expected to acquire a 49% stake in RwandAir, while Qatar holds a 60% stake in the Bugesera International Airport project.

The visit underscores the strong diplomatic ties between Rwanda and Qatar, with both countries committed to expanding their partnership. The gesture of the Inyambo cows is a testament to the warm relations between President Kagame and Sheikh Tamim, and the people of Rwanda and Qatar.
