The Chief of Sokode-Juaso, Dr. Barimah Kwabena Awuah Parker I, has donated GHC 50,000 to Ofori Panin Senior High School (OPASS) as part of celebrations marking the school’s 65th Speech and Prize-Giving Day on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Addressing the gathering as Guest of Honour, the chief, a former OPASS student, called for stronger collaboration among parents, teachers, alumni, and government to tackle the school’s growing infrastructure needs amid rising enrolment. He stressed the importance of discipline and character formation in shaping responsible future leaders, noting that debates on student hairstyles are about respect for school rules, not personal appearance.

The school’s Member of Parliament, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, also contributed GHC 10,000, urging the current government to complete abandoned projects and support new developments to expand facilities for the increasing student population. He highlighted investments initiated under the previous government to enhance OPASS’s academic infrastructure.

OPASS Headmaster, Mr. Ernest Antwi Gyimah, raised concerns over overcrowding, citing shortages of desks, bunk beds, and unfinished dormitories. He announced the installation of CCTV cameras as part of Phase 1 of a campus-wide security project to improve safety and monitoring.

The event, chaired by Chartered Accountant and Insurance Broker Bishop Asante Marfo Ahenkorah, drew a large attendance, including local chiefs, municipal officials, law enforcement, education directors, alumni representatives, parents, and students. Mr. Gyimah commended the 1999 year group for their consistent support in addressing urgent school needs.

The Chief’s donation and the MP’s pledge underscore a shared commitment to strengthening OPASS, ensuring that the institution continues to produce disciplined and capable leaders for the future.
