A potentially devastating fire at Mamprobi Sureway in Accra was brought under control on Thursday morning, thanks to the swift and coordinated response of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The blaze, which broke out around 10:13 a.m., engulfed the top floor of a one-storey building, destroying three bedrooms, a hall, and a kitchen. However, quick action by firefighters from the Dansoman station, supported by teams from Industrial Area, Circle, and the National Headquarters, prevented the flames from spreading to the lower floor.
After more than an hour of intense firefighting, the blaze was fully extinguished, leaving the ground floor, which housed two bedrooms, largely intact.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded.
The GNFS has commenced investigations into the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined. Residents and witnesses commended the firefighters for their professionalism and rapid response, saying their timely action averted what could have been a far greater tragedy.
