Teachers at St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi now have a new place to call home, thanks to the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation. The Foundation has commissioned a two-storey bungalow to help ease the school’s long-standing accommodation challenges.

Funded by the Ghana National Gas Company Limited and built by Living Grace Company Ltd, the project began in September 2024 and was completed in just a year. The building, though initially designed as a three-storey structure, currently has two floors ready for use.

Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, the Foundation’s Board Chairman, officiated the commissioning on behalf of the Asantehene. He explained that the partial commissioning was necessary to immediately address the pressing housing needs of teachers.

“Teachers needed a place to stay now. Waiting for the completion of the third floor was not an option,” Nana Prof. Boachie-Adjei said.

With over 5,500 students and 229 teaching staff, only about 30 teachers previously had campus housing. The new bungalow significantly improves living conditions for the school’s educators, ensuring that they are more comfortable and able to focus on teaching.

Joyce Kissiwaa Oduro, representing Ghana Gas, highlighted the company’s role in the project, noting that teacher accommodation is a key investment in the nation’s future. “When teachers are comfortable, students thrive. And when students thrive, the country thrives,” she said.

The Headmistress, Mrs. Ama Kyerewaa Benefo, expressed heartfelt appreciation to both the Otumfuo Foundation and Ghana Gas. “This project once seemed impossible, but today it has become a reality. We are deeply grateful for the support that has transformed our teachers’ lives,” she said.

The bungalow is part of the Foundation’s broader mission to improve educational infrastructure across Ghana, ensuring that both students and teachers have the resources they need to succeed.
