THREE JAILED 15 YEARS EACH FOR ARMED ROBBERY IN ASHANTI NORTH

The Offinso Circuit Court has sentenced three young men from Asempaneye to 15 years’ imprisonment each with hard labour for robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The convicts, Nasiru Abdul-Malik (22), Solomon Kwaku Annor Clinton (23), and Hakeem Ibrahim (20), pleaded guilty. They were each given 10 years for conspiracy and 15 years for robbery, to run concurrently, meaning each will serve 15 years.

The case stemmed from a robbery on September 23, 2025, at about 1:30 a.m. A DAF trailer carrying fertiliser from Tema to Wa broke down near Asempaneye along the Kumasi-Techiman Highway. While the driver and mate were seeking repairs, the three, armed with an axe, machete, and scissors, attacked and stole:

Samsung A24 Ultra phone (GH¢1,400)
Itel smartphone (GH¢400)
Itel keypad phone (GH¢100)
Two bags containing personal effects
GH¢140 cash

Local youth apprehended the robbers the same day and recovered the stolen items. The Ashanti North Police Command later confirmed that the suspects admitted their crime.

The convicts have since been sent to Kumasi Central Prison. Police praised the Asempaneye community for their vigilance and assured continued commitment to public safety.
