A violent robbery on the Berekum–Sampa road in the Bono Region has left travellers shaken, after armed assailants stopped vehicles and stole cash and valuables in the early hours of Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Eyewitnesses told Adom News that even two uniformed military personnel, who inadvertently drove into the ambush, were targeted, highlighting the escalating risks along this busy corridor.

The attack is the latest in a series of robberies that locals attribute to the poor condition of the road, which creates isolated and vulnerable stretches for commuters. Former Jaman North legislator Mahama Afful previously survived a similar incident on the same route.

In October, Dickson Kyere Dua, MP for Berekum West, accompanied by police officials, inspected the road and promised the installation of security barriers to deter criminals. Work by Rango Construction Ltd on the corridor is ongoing, but the barriers have yet to be put in place, leaving the road exposed to further attacks.

Residents are now urging authorities to increase police patrols and accelerate construction efforts to ensure safer passage for commuters, warning that repeated robberies are causing fear and disrupting travel along the Berekum–Sampa stretch.
