A heartbreaking accident has been recorded on the TwifoTongow – Wassa Hemanso stretch, leaving a teenager dead and six others battling for their lives.
Eyewitnesses say a KIA Rano truck loaded with cement blocks was descending from Twifo Tongow towards Wassa Hemanso when its brakes failed. The truck somersaulted in the process, spilling its heavy load on passengers. Sadly, a young boy died instantly, while six others sustained life-threatening injuries.
Personnel from the Twifo Praso Fire Service rushed to the scene and worked tirelessly to cut through the mangled vehicle to save those trapped. The victims were quickly transported to the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Hospital for emergency care. Police in Twifo Praso have since confirmed the incident and begun investigations into what triggered the brake failure.
This latest tragedy is a stark reminder of how fragile human life is on our roads. A single mistake, mechanical fault, or moment of recklessness can cut short lives and shatter families. Drivers are therefore urged to take extra caution, regularly check their vehicles, avoid overloading, and exercise patience on dangerous stretches. Life is too precious to gamble with, and every journey must be taken with safety at heart.
