Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested two suspects following the discovery of a 28-year-old man’s body in an abandoned gold pit at Abrense, Amansie West District.

The deceased, identified as Yaw Asamoah, was reportedly last seen at a wake-keeping event in the community, where he had a heated confrontation with a group of commercial sex workers over a missing sum of GHC 1,000.

Concerns arose after Asamoah went missing, prompting a search that ended tragically when his lifeless body was found in the disused mining pit.

Authorities have taken two individuals into custody to assist with investigations, though their identities have not been released. The body has been deposited at a hospital morgue for autopsy as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Family members of the deceased expressed shock and grief over the incident and are urging police to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
