Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has visited survivors of Wednesday’s deadly stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, who are currently receiving care at the 37 Military Hospital.

She arrived at the facility in the company of Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Gyemfi and the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General William Agyapong.

The Vice President toured the various wards, personally interacting with the injured and assuring them of the government’s commitment to support their treatment and full recovery. She offered words of encouragement to victims and their families, many of whom remain traumatized by the incident.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang praised the medical staff of the 37 Military Hospital for their swift and coordinated response, noting that their rapid intervention helped save lives and stabilise several critical cases.

“We are sincerely thankful for the dedication of the medical team. Their professionalism in such a difficult moment has made an enormous difference,” she said.

She extended her sympathy to all affected individuals and reaffirmed that the entire nation stands with them as investigations into the tragic recruitment exercise continue.

Officials are expected to release further details on the inquiry in the coming days.
