The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), with 177 candidates having their entire results cancelled due to examination malpractice. Additionally, 718 candidates had their subject results cancelled, while 1,240 candidates had their subject results withheld and 93 candidates had their entire results withheld.

Results Details:

  • Cancelled Results: 177 candidates’ entire results were cancelled, and 718 candidates had specific subject results cancelled.
  • Withheld Results: 1,240 candidates had subject results withheld, and 93 candidates had entire results withheld. These results may be released or cancelled based on further investigations by September 6, 2025.
  • Affected Schools: Some candidates from 119 schools had subject results cancelled, while candidates from 87 schools had subject results withheld for further scrutiny.

Checking Results:

Candidates can check their results online on the WAEC website https://www.waec.org or visit https://www.waec.org to know the status of their results. Heads of schools and proprietors can also use their results listing logins to access the status of withheld results for their candidates.¹ ²

WAEC has cautioned stakeholders against fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee, emphasizing that official results are secure and can be authenticated.
