Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has called on the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate reports of an alleged land takeover at the Abuja CMB Market in Accra.

The legislator expressed deep concern that parcels of land belonging to the state are being taken over by private investors under unclear circumstances. According to her, the development is creating instability for traders who depend on the market for their livelihoods.

“This market space is government property, and it must be safeguarded in the interest of the people. If lands are being given away, then there should be clarity on who is doing so, and under what authority,” Dr. Rawlings stressed.

She further called on the Minister of Transport and Railway Development to provide clear guidance on the matter, adding that the confusion surrounding the alleged allocation is breeding mistrust and fear among affected market users.

Dr. Rawlings warned that failure to resolve the controversy could worsen tensions, displace traders, and threaten economic stability within the constituency.

The issue has already sparked uproar among sections of the public, with many demanding transparency in the management of state lands.
