NPP Senior Communicator, Kwadwo Nsafouah Opoku has cautioned the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) against celebrating internal tensions within the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), warning that the NDC could soon face even tougher political competition and divisions.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr. Nsafouah Opoku said the NPP has already gone through intense internal contests and emerged stronger, urging the NDC to concentrate on its own future challenges.

“The NDC should not be excited about what is happening within the NPP because what lies ahead of them is even more dangerous and competitive than what the NPP has faced,” he stated.

According to him, internal disagreements are common in political contests, especially during heated primaries and leadership elections.

“The NPP has fought its battles already, so they should focus on what is ahead of them. They should also not preach to the NPP about internal contests because they have also experienced similar situations during their own presidential primaries in the past,” he said.

He referenced past tensions within the NDC, recalling remarks allegedly made by presidential aspirant Kwabena Duffuor against President John Dramani Mahama during internal party competition.

“President Mahama was once called a drunkard by Dr. Duffuor, yet when Mahama became president, he has appointed him as a presidential advisor,” he claimed.

Mr. Nsafouah Opoku noted that political disagreements during campaigns and primaries often fade after elections as parties unite behind a common objective.

“What people should understand is that during political elections, especially in the heat of the moment, issues can arise. But after everything, parties usually come together to fight for one common cause,” he added.
