Ghanaian rapper Kojo Cue has disclosed that although awards were not initially important to him, he now recognizes their critical role in sustaining the music industry.

Speaking on Angel FM, Kumasi, he admitted his past indifference toward awards.
“For a long time, awards were not something I cared about until recently. Even last year I was not nominated, but I still went there.”

He explained that his perspective changed after observing how award schemes contribute to industry growth.
“I have come to see that in the music institution, awards are what hold the industry, and if the movie industry had something like this, it would have still been booming.”

He encouraged fellow artists to take awards seriously and invest in them.
“It is good that all artistes invest themselves in it as one of the last standing institutions that is keeping the music industry.”

According to him, his renewed interest is driven by a desire to support the industry.
“I care about the industry, so I had to involve myself.”

Referencing the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, he revealed the categories he values most.
“Songwriter of the Year and Album of the Year are the two major categories I have been aiming for over the years.”

He emphasized that these reflect his strengths and dedication.
“These are the two things I really take my time doing.”

Despite not winning any personal TGMA awards yet, Kojo Cue remains unfazed.
“I am not worried that I have never gotten an award at the TGMA, even though people I started with have had some.”

He also admitted that he previously did not actively pursue nominations.
“For the longest time, I was not submitting forms to be nominated because that was not my priority.”

However, he acknowledged receiving recognition elsewhere.
“I have won with Shakers for a 4Syte Award and one other collaboration award.”
